Terms & Conditions
1. The Service (and its current status)
YKnot is a members-only social service where members open the spare seats in plans they are already doing (each, a "line") and other nearby members may ask to join. The Service is not yet live. Until launch, these Terms apply to your use of the Site; provisions describing membership, credits, lines, and meetups take effect when the Service launches and may be updated before then.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Site or Service you represent that you are 18 or older, able to form a binding contract, and not barred from using the Service under applicable law.
3. Membership and your account
- Access to the Service requires a paid, one-time membership. Membership is personal to you and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
- You are responsible for your account, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. Impersonation and fake identities are prohibited.
4. Credits, fees, and payments
- Actions on the Service (such as opening a line, asking to join, or unlocking content) may cost a small fee, charged against a prepaid credits wallet. Current fees are shown in the app before you confirm any action.
- Credits are not money. They have no cash value, are not redeemable for cash except where required by law, are non-transferable, and may expire or be adjusted if obtained through fraud or error.
- Hosts never earn money. Fees exist to filter for intent and are paid to YKnot, not to other members. The Service is not a marketplace for paid experiences, ticket sales, or host compensation of any kind.
- Refunds of credits (for example, when a request is not accepted or a line is cancelled) are governed by the refund rules displayed in the app at the time of the transaction. Except as those rules or applicable law require, all payments are final.
- Payment processing is handled by third-party processors (such as Stripe); their terms apply to the processing of your payment.
5. Lines and real-world meetups
YKnot connects people; it does not organize, supervise, or control what happens when members meet. Every line is created, hosted, and attended by members at their own initiative and their own risk. You understand and agree that:
- YKnot does not conduct background checks and does not vet, endorse, or guarantee any member, line, venue, or activity.
- Hosts decide personally whom to accept; YKnot does not select attendees and is not a party to any plan.
- You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and in person. Use judgment: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and leave any situation that feels wrong.
- You assume all risks arising from attending or hosting any meetup, including personal injury, property damage, and interactions with other members, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Activities carrying inherent risk (hiking, swimming, surfing, cycling, and similar) are undertaken entirely at your own risk and within your own abilities.
6. Your content
- You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, line descriptions, messages, and similar). You grant YKnot a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate, promote, and improve the Service.
- You are responsible for your content. Post only what you have the right to share, and nothing unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or harassing.
- Content may be screened by automated systems and human review, and we may remove any content at our discretion. Content visible only behind paid unlocks remains subject to these Terms.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any commercial purpose, including advertising, selling tickets or experiences, promoting venues or businesses, or recruiting for other platforms;
- charge or accept payment from members in connection with any line, on or off the platform;
- harass, threaten, deceive, or harm other members, or engage in discrimination or hate speech;
- post lines you do not genuinely intend to host, or systematically flake on plans you have joined;
- scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service, or circumvent any fee, gate, or safety measure;
- use the Service while under the minimum age, while suspended, or in violation of any law.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your membership at any time for conduct that violates these Terms, endangers other members, or harms the Service, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. Membership fees and spent credits are not refunded on termination for cause. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including Sections 4–13) survive termination.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, software, text, graphics, and branding — YKnot, the YKnot knot logo, and "Someone just dropped a line" — is owned by YKnot Love Incorporated or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for your own content, no rights are granted to you other than the limited right to use the Service under these Terms.
10. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND THE SERVICE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. YKNOT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY LINE, MEMBER, OR MEETUP WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YKNOT LOVE INCORPORATED AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR SERVICE — INCLUDING ANYTHING THAT OCCURS AT OR IN CONNECTION WITH A MEETUP BETWEEN MEMBERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO YKNOT IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless YKnot Love Incorporated from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, your conduct at any meetup, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek relief in small-claims court or injunctive relief for intellectual-property misuse in any court of competent jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, including when the Service launches. The current version will always be posted at yknot.love/terms.html with its effective date. Material changes will be notified through the Site or the Service; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
